What to expect from Kristina the RD

Welcome to Kristina the RD! I’m so glad you stumbled upon my blog. Let me take a minute to explain my mission so you can decide if this is for you! This is not a diet blog. I am not going to tell you to cut out foods or give you a “magic trick” to lose weight fast. This blog is not about a quick fix – it’s about the long game. You already know the facts. There is no diet that says vegetables are bad or that cookies and cakes will make you lose weight. We all know what we should eat. The issue arises in the execution. If I had a dollar for every time someone said to me “I know what I should do, I just don’t do it!” I’d be living on a private island, taking rides on my yacht, and you get the point… Most of us know what foods are good for our bodies, we just have trouble finding BALANCE. And I believe finding that balance is the key to a healthy diet.

What prevents us from finding that balance? Honestly, a major obstacle is ourselves! I will talk about this more in future posts but we all tend to set these impossibly high standards for ourselves when it comes to diet and exercise goals and if we can’t meet them then we give up and go totally off balance. Setting realistic goals is a major key in finding balance.

Another obstacle that gets in the way of finding balance is navigating all of the negativity around food in our society. It seems like all we hear about is what we shouldn’t eat – non-organic food is bad for you, don’t eat carbs, red meat makes you sick, farm-raised fish is not good enough, etc. We’re constantly being told what not to eat which makes it feel like we’re failing every time we go to make a food choice. It takes the joy out of eating! Bringing joy back to eating and cooking is another key in finding balance. We have to eat every day so might as well enjoy it!

Through Kristina the RD I hope to help you find balance and peace with food. I want to this to be a positive space that focuses on everything you are doing right and everything that you can eat! I hope I will help you think more about your relationship with food and heal any damage that has been done to it. I’d like build an interactive community where we can all feel comfortable to share our experiences and learn from each other. I’ll be posting fun content on Instagram so make sure to follow along there as well (@kristinatherd)!

Thank you for welcoming me into your health journey. I’m excited to get started! Together we will learn and grow!
